With week 1 in the books, teams look to make the necessary adjustments to improve their chances of winning their week 2 match-up. However, some teams may have a challenge of executing those changes based on their opponent. With that said here are my teams that are guaranteed to win their match-up this week.
(Andrew went 2-2 with his picks last week)
Patriots over the Saints
After the Patriots lost to the Chiefs in their opening matchup, I expect a team led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick to overcome the reality of starting 0-2 and defeat the Saints. Even though I am weary about the Patriots defense, I expect them to make the necessary adjustments after a mini 10-day bye. When looking at the Saints, their offence is capable of moving the ball down the field, but their defense still is not capable of stopping anyone. As a result I expect this game to be a high scoring event in the Superdome. I have the Patriots winning 40-27 on the road.
Titans over Jags
The key matchup in this game is the Jaguars front 7 against the Titans offensive line and run attack. While Jacksonville’s defensive line came off of a monster pseahawkserformance, Tennessee’s offensive line is still regarded as one of the best in the league. Going into this game I expect them to control the majority of play at the line of scrimmage. With this in mind this could create opportunities for Mariota in the passing game and throw to targets such as Delanie Walker and Corey Davis down field. On the flip side, Blake Bortles will have to make the necessary throws to keep up with the Titans offence and I do not think he is capable of doing so. I have the Titans winning 24-10 on the road.
Raiders over Jets
The Jets could be in for a long day when going up against the Raiders on Sunday. The Raiders now have become a more balanced attack with the addition of Marshawn Lynch. That along with Carr, Cooper, Crabtree, and their offensive line makes this matchup difficult for the Jets defense. Also, the Jets offence has no one on their offensive line that can matchup against the likes of Khalil Mack. They also have no skill positioned players to threaten this Oakland Raider Secondary. I have the Raiders winning 38-9 at home.
Seahawks over the 49ers
After the 49ers struggled to establish anything on offense last week against, things don’t get much easier heading into Seattle. The Seahawks posses on the leagues best defenses, specifically against the run after only allowing 84 yards to the Packers run game. As for the 49ers, they were only able to muster up 51 rushing yards against the Panthers and I would expect a similar run total against the Seahawks run defense. As a result of this, the 49ers will have an even more difficult time throwing as they will often be in third and long situations. I have the Seahawks winning 26-13 at home.
