You want to drum up fan base excitement, feature 19 Super Bowl rematches as part of the 2015 year-long celebration of Super Bowl 50, which will be played on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

A few examples of NFL Clubs celebrating Super Bowl rematches in 2015:

  • On Monday Night Football in Week 3, the Green Bay Packers will celebrate Super Bowl I against Kansas City with local events and a halftime ceremony.
  • The Denver Broncos’ Super Bowl XXXII team will be honored in Week 8 against Green Bay as owner Pat Bowlen will be inducted into the club’s Ring of Fame.
  • In Week 15, the San Francisco 49ers will bring back their 1981 defensive line and their 1988 players to celebrate their Super Bowl XVI and XXIII teams.

The NFL’s Homecoming showcase highlights both the accomplishments and contributions of NFL greats and celebrates dedicated fans. Homecomings invite members of Super Bowl teams to be honored in-stadium on gameday and throughout the weekend. Teams will commemorate Homecomings with Ring of Honor/Hall of Fame ceremonies, recognizing Super Bowl players as honorary captains and featuring special halftime celebrations.

A look at a few teams’ Homecoming events this season:

  • In Week 2, the Kansas City Chiefs will honor their Super Bowl I & IV teams. Both teams will be celebrated on the field during pregame, player introductions and halftime with highlights and memories from both Super Bowls. The teams will also participate in local charity and community events during the week of the game.
  • The New York Giants will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Super Bowl XXV team vs Atlanta Falcons. Players from that team will celebrate with private and fan-facing events, complete with pregame and halftime celebrations that will include Pro Football Hall of Famer Bill Parcells.
  • The Minnesota Vikings will welcome back 11 players who participated in four Super Bowls for the club. Leading into the Vikings Week 6 matchup against Kansas City, the club will host several fan and community engagement events with these alumni players.

Rematches and Homecomings are part of the NFL’s On The Fifty platform, designed to link the past 49 Super Bowls with this year’s game and honor the teams, players, coaches, fans and communities that have been a part of those games.
