These days my mornings consistent of a visit to what is now my favorite medical data sites, the University of Oxford (@UniofOxford) and The Lancet (@thelancet) to review medical journal updates on the pandemic, as the ever changing statistical landscape of COVID-19 numbers rise every 24 hours.
In February while working for the XFL’s Seattle Dragons as the Director of Player Personnel, I learned COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Early data released said elderly adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart disease, lung issues or diabetes are at higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19.
Information from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic suggests that this virus is not prejudice and attacks all nationalities regardless of gender or age as it spreads more efficiently than influenza, but not as contagious as the measles.
While numbers and stats change daily when tracking this treacherous disease, one consistent fact is the doctors, nurses, EMT/Fire fighters along with all emergency workers on the front line have been rock stars. Dealing with the shortage of proper equipment, gowns, masks etc, they have worked overtime to make sure those sick and in hospitals are treated and cared for on each and every shaft, and comfort those on their death beds. THANK YOU for your professionalism, work ethic and dedication to your craft during these very strange times.
